Ellicott City, MD- Pamela G. Holt recently took the helm as Executive
Director of Maryland Citizens for the Arts (MCA) and Maryland Citizens
for the Arts Foundation (MCAF).
A native of Baltimore, Ms. Holt is an experienced manager, community
development consultant and arts administrator. Previously, she served
as the Director of Cultural Tourism and Special Assistant in the Deputy
Mayor for Planning and Economic Development's Office for the District
of Columbia. She has also been Executive Director of the District of Columbia
Commission on the Arts and Humanities and Cultural Advisor to Mayors Marion
Barry, Jr. and Sharon Pratt Kelly.
Commenting on her appointment, Lynn Deering, Chairman of the MCA/MCAF
Board said, " I am very pleased to welcome Pamela to Maryland Citizens
for the Arts and look forward to working with her in promoting and expanding
the role of the arts. Pamela has a very extensive background in the arts
and arts management. She will be an arts leader in Maryland."
Ms. Holt has a record of involvement with numerous cultural organizations
including the Association of American Cultures, the National Cultural
Alliance, the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation and the National Assembly of
Local Arts Agencies (Americans for the Arts). Also, she has served as
a volunteer with Baltimore's Afram Festival.
Ms. Holt received a Bachelor of Music degree from Howard University and
a Masters degree in Arts Management from The American University. She
received the first Outstanding Alumni Award from The American University's
Department of Performing Arts and a Special Award for Service from the
Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts.
Located In Ellicott City, Maryland Citizens for the Arts is a statewide
arts advocacy organization founded in 1977 to serve as the voice for the
arts and increased funding for the Maryland State Arts Council. The foundation
supports education and research initiatives to increase public recognition
and support of the arts in Maryland and produces the Governor's Arts Awards
at ArtSalute and Maryland Arts Days.
